Why Egress Windows Are A Must Have
An egress window is a window or a window well that is large enough for exit and entry in case of an emergency.
Building codes require that basements and all sleeping rooms must have at least one opening, either a window or exterior door, for escape or rescue (also referred to as egress) in case of fire or other emergency.
In the event of an emergency, having properly installed egress windows can be the difference between life and death for your family. They allow your family to get out, and firefighters to get in. In addition to safety reasons, egress windows can increase the value of your home.
